Note the heterogeneity of the IS where vascular bundles (light color) alternate with interbundle regions. In the IM, this heterogeity disappears progressively and, at the level seen here, tubules and vessels are more closely intermingled in a more homogenous compartement surrounded by an abundant interstitium.
