Vertical axes are visible, in which interlobular arteries are giving rise to afferent arterioles providing blood to the glomeruli. Between these axes, postglomerular capillaries are seen, which supply blood to the tubules. Compare with picture 15 which shows, in the rabbit, a histological section of the cortex with the same orientation.
