The deepest glomeruli are clearly seen, with their efferent arteriole giving rise to numerous vasa recta forming vascular bundles in the outer medulla. Note that the OS has only scarce arterial capillaries. Its blood supply comes mainly from venous vasa recta ascending from deeper medulla (see preceding picture).
